Cookie notice
The few cookies and browser storage items the Centre’s website uses, all of them needed for the site to work. No advertising or tracking cookies.
The short version
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not let other companies set cookies through our pages. The only cookies the site sets are needed for it to work, which is why there is no cookie banner.
Cookies we set
- cupa_csrf (security). Protects the site's forms, such as contact, newsletter and registration forms, against forgery by other websites. It holds a random code, cannot be read by scripts, and is deleted when you close your browser.
- cupa_flash (messages). Shows a one-time message after you send a form, such as "Thank you, your message has been sent". It is deleted as soon as the message has been shown.
- cupa_admin (staff only). Keeps Centre staff signed in to the admin portal. It is set only when someone signs in, and expires after 7 days or when they sign out.
These cookies are used only by this website. They are not used to recognise you on other sites or to build a profile of you.
Storage in your browser
Two small preferences are remembered in your browser's local storage. They are never sent to us:
- cupa_nl_popup: remembers that you closed the newsletter invitation, so it does not appear again for 30 days, or that you subscribed, so it never appears again.
- cupa-cite-style: remembers which citation style you last chose on a publication page.
The admin portal also remembers a few display preferences for staff in the same way.
Visitor statistics
If visitor statistics are switched on, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts visits without cookies and without local storage. See the privacy policy for details.
Videos
Videos from YouTube and Vimeo load only when you press play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode or Vimeo's "Do Not Track" setting. Once a video is playing, the provider may use cookies or similar technologies under its own policy.
Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. If you block the security cookie, our forms will not work and will ask you to try again. Clearing your browser's site data removes the local storage items too.
