Sources and method
Source: U.S. Census Bureau, International Trade API; goods only, not services; nominal US dollars; last updated 5 October 2026 (latest month: July 2026).
- What is counted. Trade in goods as recorded by US Customs and the Census Bureau. Services (travel, software, finance, transport) and remittances are not included.
- US exports to Pakistan are total exports (US-made goods and re-exports), valued free alongside ship (F.A.S.) at the US port. US imports from Pakistan are general imports at customs value (before freight and insurance), by country of origin.
- Balance is US exports minus US imports. A negative balance is a US trade deficit with Pakistan, which in these figures is a Pakistani surplus with the United States.
- Dollars are current (nominal) US dollars, not adjusted for inflation or for seasonal patterns, so compare the same months across years rather than one month with the next.
- Goods are grouped by the 97 chapters of the Harmonized System (HS 2-digit). The short chapter names are CUPA’s; the official descriptions are in the downloads.
- Revisions. The Census Bureau revises recent months, and each June the previous years; this page reads the current and previous year again every day and older years every month.
- Why Pakistan’s figures differ. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics counts the same trade from the other side (exports at FOB, imports including freight and insurance, by fiscal year July–June, recorded at different dates), so its totals do not match these.
