Arms Export Control Act
law & sanctions. Also AECA
The main US law on arms sales and exports, enacted in 1976 (Public Law 94-329). It governs government-to-government sales and commercial licences, requires notice to Congress of major sales, and is the basis of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations. Several sanctions that shaped US–Pakistan relations sit in it, including the Glenn and Symington provisions on nuclear transfers and tests, and its missile-proliferation sanctions.12
