Arms sale notification
law & sanctions. Also section 36(b) notification, 36(b) notification
The formal notice the US government must send Congress before concluding a major arms sale, under section 36 of the Arms Export Control Act. For most countries, including Pakistan, notice is due 30 days ahead for sales of major defence equipment worth $14 million or more, other defence articles or services worth $50 million or more, or design and construction services worth $200 million or more. Congress can block a sale by joint resolution, which has rarely happened.1
