Tariff line

trade. Also tariff lines, national tariff line

The most detailed product category in a country’s customs tariff, to which a duty rate is attached. Tariff lines extend the six-digit Harmonized System to eight, ten or more digits, so countries count them differently. Trade negotiators and analysts measure offers and barriers in tariff lines, for example the share of lines on which a partner cuts duties to zero, or how many lines a preference scheme such as the GSP covers.12
