Overview

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and other Gulf states are among Pakistan's most important partners. Millions of Pakistanis work in the Gulf, and their remittances are a major source of foreign exchange; the Gulf also supplies much of Pakistan's oil and gas and has provided financial support and investment. Gulf states are close security partners of the United States, so their relationships with Washington and Islamabad often intersect.
