Caretaker government

institutions. Also caretaker setup, caretaker prime minister

The interim government that runs Pakistan, federally or in a province, between the dissolution of an assembly and the formation of a new government after elections. Under Article 224 of the Constitution its head is chosen in consultation with the outgoing leader and the opposition leader, and its members may not contest that election. The Elections Act limits it to routine business; a July 2023 amendment let it act on existing international agreements and economic projects.12
