Cosponsor
institutions. Also cosponsorship
A member of Congress who formally adds their name in support of a bill or resolution introduced by another member, the sponsor. Members can cosponsor when a bill is introduced or later, and can withdraw. The number and party mix of cosponsors is a rough public signal of support, which is why advocacy on Pakistan-related resolutions and bills often aims at gathering cosponsors, but cosponsorship does not by itself move a bill forward.1
