Multi-Fibre Arrangement

trade. Also Multifibre Arrangement, Agreement on Textiles and Clothing

The system of bilateral quotas, in force from 1974, under which the United States, Europe and Canada limited imports of textiles and clothing from developing countries, including Pakistan; earlier restraints dated from the 1960s. The WTO Agreement on Textiles and Clothing phased the quotas out over ten years, ending on 1 January 2005. Pakistani exporters then competed directly with China and others in the US market.12
