Reconstruction Opportunity Zones
trade. Also ROZ, ROZs
A US proposal, announced by President George W. Bush during his March 2006 visit to Afghanistan and Pakistan, to let specified goods made in designated zones in Afghanistan and Pakistan’s border regions enter the United States duty-free, to create jobs in conflict areas. Bills were introduced, and in 2009 the House passed ROZ language, but the Senate’s version of the aid bill, which became law, left it out, and the zones were never created.12
