World Trade Organization
trade. Also WTO
The international organisation, set up on 1 January 1995 as successor to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), that administers global trade rules, hosts negotiations and settles trade disputes among its members. Pakistan, a GATT contracting party since 30 July 1948, has been a founding WTO member since 1 January 1995, as has the United States. Its rules, such as most-favoured-nation treatment, frame US–Pakistan trade.12
