Agreement of Cooperation (1959)
diplomacy. Also 1959 Agreement of Cooperation, US–Pakistan Agreement of Cooperation
A bilateral agreement signed at Ankara on 5 March 1959, alongside near-identical ones with Iran and Turkey, to reinforce the defensive purposes of the Baghdad Pact, by then CENTO. In it the United States undertook, in case of aggression against Pakistan, to take such appropriate action, including the use of armed forces, as might be mutually agreed and in line with its Constitution, in keeping with the 1957 Eisenhower Doctrine resolution.12
