End-use check
law & sanctions. Also pre-license check, post-shipment verification
An on-site visit by the US Commerce Department, through its export control officers or embassy staff, to a foreign party in an export transaction, to judge whether it is a reliable recipient and is using US items as declared. A pre-licence check comes before a licence decision; a post-shipment verification comes after export. A party that cannot be verified may face closer scrutiny or be placed on the Unverified List or Entity List. It differs from the Defense Department’s end-use monitoring of weapons.12
