Article IV consultation
aid & finance. Also IMF Article IV
The IMF’s regular, usually annual, review of a member country’s economy and policies, required under Article IV of its Articles of Agreement. A staff team visits, meets officials and issues a concluding statement; its report then goes to the Executive Board, whose views are summarised and usually published. For Pakistan, the consultation is often held together with reviews of its IMF loan programme, as in 2024 when the Board also approved a $7 billion arrangement.12
