Staff-level agreement

aid & finance. Also IMF staff-level agreement

An agreement between IMF staff and a country’s government on economic policies for a new loan or a programme review. It is not yet a decision of the Fund: it must be approved by the IMF Executive Board, often only after the government completes agreed “prior actions” and other lenders confirm financing. In July 2024 Pakistan reached a staff-level agreement on a 37-month, roughly $7 billion Extended Fund Facility, approved by the Board in September 2024.1
