Overview

Pakistan is among the countries most exposed to climate-related hazards, including river floods, heatwaves and glacial lake outburst floods in the north. Monsoon floods, such as those of 2010 and 2022, have caused widespread damage to homes, crops and infrastructure. Adaptation finance, disaster preparedness and reconstruction are recurring topics in Pakistan's engagement with the United States and other partners.
